Sadie (pictured below) was shot and killed by a coyote hunter in November 2023. Protect Our Wildlife submitted a public records request to Fish & Wildlife to get more information on the case. The man who shot Sadie is a known coyote (and bobcat) hunter who sets up bait stations to attract animals into close range. According to the warden's report (warning: it is upsetting to read), he shoots coyotes in the dark using a thermal scope from inside his house through a window. This is how Sadie was shot.

Note: Another dog was shot and killed in a similar way in December 2022 in Barre Town.
